BioMar is proud to support women who are passionate about aquaculture and marine science. In 2023, we announced our sponsorship of Women in Caribbean Aquaculture (WiCA), a network of female professionals and students dedicated to advancing the aquaculture industry in the region.
Throughout the year, WiCA members achieved impressive milestones. Juli-Anne Russo joined BioMar at the LAQUA event in Panama, where she gained valuable experience and insights. Meanwhile, Mia Avril expanded her expertise by participating in a Microbiota Workshop in the Netherlands. Juli-Anne's commitment to the field was acknowledged when she won a Fulbright Specialist Programme Award for her innovative project on integrating local ingredients into small-scale Bahamian fish farms.
These achievements highlight the significant contributions that WiCA members are making to the development and innovation of aquaculture in the Caribbean.
To continue promoting this growth, we are excited to announce that we are sponsoring four talented women from WiCA to attend the LAQUA 2024 event later this month in Colombia.
