Fostering Sustainable Aquaculture: A Collaborative Journey with USSEC Delegates

Last month, we had the honor of hosting two remarkable groups of USSEC (U.S. Soybean Export Council) delegates from Tunisia and Algeria, accompanied by Dr. I. Kotzamanis, Research Director at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR), and Dr. G. Triantafyllidis, Research Fellow at HCMR. Their visit was part of the “Sustainable Developments in Mediterranean Aquaculture” technical workshop and seminar organized by Dr. Iani Chiahai, USSEC Consultant Europe.

USSEC's work focuses on areas like sustainable agriculture, improving soybean production, and advocating for the quality of U.S. soybeans. With the contribution of the Greek leading Aquaculture Experts and Scientists, USSEC organized a 4-day event in Greece for an exclusive group of North African aquaculture specialists, including a visit to the BioMar Hellenic plant, in Volos.

The delegates, who are involved in the aquaculture sector at various levels such as Fish Farm Managers, Aqua Nutritionists, Feed Mill Managers, Quality Control Managers, and Decision Makers, were given a tour of our factory premises sharing our commitment to innovation and sustainability in aquaculture.

Interactive Sessions and Knowledge Exchange

The 2 groups were welcomed by Mr. Thanos Batsikouras, Managing Director and Mr. Stelios Tsekouras, Formulator and Technical Support. Both sides had the chance to interact and exchange technical and business views and knowledge. We also shared our visions and ambitions for a more sustainable future in Aquaculture.

During the presentation session, we had the chance to learn more about the Tunisian and Algerian Aquaculture with very positive feedback and we also showcased our advanced technologies, research-based formulations, innovative solutions and all parameters that promote optimized fish performance with reduced environmental impact.
